This weekend, we went to Cork for the christening of my sister's baby daughter. It was a lovely day on Saturday and we left Limerick a bit early so we could get to the sea before the christening. The drive to Cork via Mitchelstown went really well, 1 hr and 20 mins on the new motorway.

We got to Garryvoe beach, but the tide was in all the way to the rocks, so we didn't get to walk on the sand. The waves were wonderful to behold though and I stood and just listened to the wonderful rocking sound of pebbles rolling back when the waves retreated. The children ran off a bit of their pentup energy and played in the playground, till the sky began to fill with black clouds and fat raindrops began to fall. We scarpered to the car and headed to the church in Midleton.
The ceremony was lovely and then we drove a short distance to the Castlemartyr Hotel, where we were well fed and watered. We left Cork at around 8.30pm and got home at at 10.30.

Sunday passed in a blur of matches, 3 in all, soccer, camogie and Gaelic Football, and I slept like a log when I finally got to bed Sunday night.
Weather
Today, Monday, it has been raining all day, drizzly at times and downpours at times.
Just now when I logged on to write this post, I saw that my Weather widget for Limerick said 'Light Snow', and I thought to myself, 'well they got that wrong, but they can't always be right'. 3 minutes ago, my daughter came running down the stairs to say 'It's snowing!!!' So there, Weather widget was right! Big fat wet snowflakes!
The weather is set to be wet and very cold this week, with possible snow and frost in places. My heating will be going back on again. This house is quite economical on heat, a sunny day gives us lots of passive solar gain, but cold overcast days are not good from the 'free heat from the sun' point of view, so underfloor heating and storage heating are going back on tonight.
Birthday
Our second daughter had her 13th birthday on Saturday, the same day as the christening. She wanted a smoothie maker and she got one! So it's been smoothies every day since.
Easter holidays
Now we have 2 weeks off for Easter, a welcome break from the early mornings and from homework, uniforms, lunches, etc. The clocks went forward, there's an extra hour of brightness in the evenings, and the weather will be getting better, one hopes, as March and April pass. I can live in hope!

Dopet
Min systerdotter döptes i Cork i lördags. Vi åkte dit lite tidigare så att vi skulle hinna till stranden innan dopet. Floden var inne när vi kom dit, så vi fick nöja oss med att gå längs trottoaren och barnen fick springa av sig lite i lekparken med.
Tyvärr så har jag inga bilder, mannen min tog massor men när han skulle överföra dem till mig just ni så funkade det inte dessvärre.
Strandbesöket tog slut när det började regna kraftigt. Vi körde tillbaks till Midleton kyrka. Efter dopet åkte vi till Castlemartyr Hoet, ett mycket flott ställe, där vi åt god mat och hade roligt ett tag innan det var dags att dra oss hemåt igen.
Dagen därpå, söndag, hade flickorna 3 olika matcher och när jag kom till sängs igårkväll så sov jag som en stock.
Vädret
Idag har det regnat och regnat som bara den, och nu snöar det, till min stora förvåning. Väderprognosen är inte bra denna vecka, med regn, kyla, snö och frost. Suck...
Påsklov
Vi har 2 veckors påsklov nu, vad bra att slippa allt vad vanliga arbetsveckor innebär, uniformer, hemläxor, medhavda matsäckor att packa, och tidiga morgnar...
Födelsedag
Vår nästäldsta dotter fyllde 13 i lördags, samma dag som hennes lilla kusin döptes. Hon hade önskat sig en smoothie maker, och det fick hon, bland annat, så nu är hon glad och vi får smoothies till frukost, lunch och kvällsmat!
Annars
annars så är jag glad att det går mot ljusare tider bokstavligt sagt, jag håller på att sticka så ofta jag kan, och så läser jag fortfarande lite matte och har just påbörjat psykologikursen på distans...Kognitionsvetenskap....vad annars skulle en lärare läsa...?
