A blog by an Irishwoman, written in both English and Swedish, depending on what humour is on me....
Just scroll down to find the English bits among the Swedish, or vice versa.

Ta Gaeilge agam freisin, más é an rud é go bhfuil éinne eile le Gaeilge ag léamh mo bhlagsa.

Wondering about the background of the blog? They're the Cliffs of Moher, in the neighbouring county, County Clare, 8km long, 700m high, and magnificent. Well worth a visit if anyone is around the West of Ireland

a birthday in the family, en födelsedag

Hi all,
Our son Sean turned 4 today. My sister was here for the day with 4 children, and my mum and dad called by, and my good friend K was also here with her two pretty little girls and her husband.
I call my kids' birthays my Labour days, who knows, I may even take a glass of red to celebrate one more Labour Day today!
It's been a busy day, maybe tomorrow I'll put up some photos from today.
Good night
liz

  3. Liz, when I read your post, I thought of this poem, though I'm not religious! My mother-in-law gave me a copy of it when my eldest was that age. I've no idea of its origin.

    The Desire

    Give me no mansions ivory white
    Nor palaces of pearl and gold;
    Give me a child for all delight,
    Just four years old.

    Give me no winds of rosy shine,
    Nor silken raiment fold on fold;
    Give me a little boy all mine,
    just four years old.

    Give me no gold and starry crown,
    Nor harps, nor palm-branches unrolled;
    Give me a nestling head of brown,
    Just four years old.

    Give me a cheek that's like the peach,
    Two arms to clasp me from the cold;
    And all my heaven's within my reach,
    Just four years old.

    Dear God, You give me from Your skies,
    A little heaven, all mine to hold,
    As Mary once her paradise,
    Just four years old.

    kram

  5. Hi Lily!
    thanks for the poem, it's very sweet, it brought a little tear to my eye, it's both wonderful and bittersweet to see how they grow so fast, sigh...
    'a little heaven all mine to hold',
    sometimes i do just that, he's telling me his serious stories and I'm hugging him and admiring him!!!
    you know how it is...
    regards

  9. Hej Irish Mammy!
    Yes, wasn't Lily's poem lovely, I'm afraid I have a very soft heart and it made me a bit weepy, but then I got over it, with all the action in this house!
    I was sorry to hear about your parents-in-law's cancelled flights, sicken otur!
    Not sure where all this volcano stuff will end, will we still have trouble in the summer? We're hoping to get to Sweden this July, tickets booked and paid for...who knows?
    regards
